nah the only thing allowed here is to work and go to sleep. everything is closed apart from places where you can spend your money. so you can't go to the museum, or to the library, but you can go into the shopping mall, into a big electronics store and buy a new flatscreen tv. it doesn't make any sense.

There was a story in the Torygraph I saw shared on FB the other day about how the government has hired a consultancy firm to find out how it can cut its spending on consultancy firms - which was the subject of a cartoon in Private Eye about two weeks ago.

Very Parkinson's Law... not the law itself but the later chapters in the book where he examines the history of the navy and points out that (I'm making these numbers up obviously) in 1700 the British navy had 20,000 ships and 20 admirals, by 1850 it had 10,000 ships and 200 admirals - and by 1950 it had 500 ships and 400 admirals. Luckily he did not live to see today when the navy has 3 ships, 1000 admirals.... and twenty consultancies attached to it.

i wanna know how people are catching the bug now, how come there's no analysis of which situations are riskier e.g.

* have people actually caught it by touching buggy surfaces (i think not)
* did anyone catch it outdoors
* is going by taxi better/worse than the tube or bus
for instance

assuming you believe the thing exists and more or less is behaving like how you'd expect, there must have been enough folk by now who can trace the moment they got it? at the start of the pandemic there were more tales from sufferers than now?

my common senses tell me that outdoors you're ok, and you're gonna catch it if you spend time indoors with a sufferer, otherwise it's v unlikely, no? i dunno about other countries but definitive advice about all that sort of thing is lacking as far as i can tell

Who loves ya, baby?
My brother who had three housemates all test positive never caught it. He stayed in his room and washed his hands a lot, but the other three were all really careless, didn't take any precautions to prevent infecting him too and he was somehow still fine.

My brother who caught it - the mad one - is back to normal now. He said he just had two days in bed feeling like he had flu then spent the rest of the time in self-isolation more or less as normal.

Does this mean he's back to his normal, abnormal self?

Donald Trump Jr is a massive massive cunt. Also he's now got the covid.
You know when Donald Trump had it and people were saying "but if he dies it will be a mess and he'll be a martyr and Pence will be in power" or when Johnson got it and it seemed kinda shocking and some people were saying "Probably would be bad if he died"?
I'm guessing with DT Jr there is nobody making an argument along those lines. He has no utility, no added value for the human race (if you can call it an added value for the orange one that if he died there was someone worse waiting in the wings) - do you think there is anybody in the world who is truly thinking "Oh god, I hope poor Jr doesn't snuff it, I care for him so much, he is a truly lovely guy, a genuinely beautiful human being"?

Someone actually told me today (there was a debate about whether or not it's ok to share tubes) that cocaine is a preventative for covid... but the above post gives the lie to that I guess.

I imagine his coke dealer would be fairly miffed.

Edit: ha, wrote that before I saw your last post.

I doubt this will happen, but you'll never know. The current Danish government has a rather lax attitude to our basic constitutional rights. It's really pretty bad now, in contrary to the case/death rate (very low compared to rest of europe) which of course the government uses as excuse for their radical policies work.
