Lockdowns are...
...largely avoidable at a national level, in developed island countries, when they're not run by right-wing populist scumbags who persistently ignore scientists and doctors in favour of appeasing reactionary blowhards and sinister social Darwinists.

Our food market changed the sign on their door this week from "Masks required for entry" to "We encourage non-vaccinated customers to wear a mask".

Have to admit it was odd to see bare faces in there, after a year and a half. Staff still wearing masks, though.

Judging by word on the street of the local spread of the Delta/India variant, it seems like all our measures and vax have achieved the dubious distinction of selecting for a variant that is nigh-on impossible to contain.

The Swedish far right wanted a lockdown
They're very much the odd ones out, in that case. Globally, the far right is almost unanimously anti-lockdown, anti-mask, indeed many are in denial that the pandemic even exists.

Do you need me to find the photo of that anti-lockdown protestor holding a placard saying ARBEIT MACHT FREI outside the offices of Illinois's (Jewish) state governor again?

I've no idea what you think that proves.

Stalin invaded Poland - does that make it untrue that Hitler also invaded Poland?
The Left here are pro-lockdown because they're scared of the virus - nothing to do with principles.

Sweden demystified the virus by treating the threat rationally and the Left there thus hasn't ended up hoisting its flag up that greasy pole.

Isn't being scared of the virus and what it will do, who it will harm etc, i.e a general concern for others rather than one's own individual freedom and money, pretty much the same as having principles rather than directly opposed to it?

Except Sweden's infection rate is over 50% higher than ours. Apply that to our population and you're looking at nearly 200,000 dead and an extra half million long covid sufferers.

I dunno why I bother saying this, though. I've been saying it for over a year and you're still coming back with the same fallacies and bollocks. I must be a sucker for punishment, I suppose.

If your thoughts align with this cunt’s, something has gone deeply wrong with your notions of fear and control among other humans

I wouldn't say I was "scared of cars", in the sense of having a phobia of them, but I am aware that they pose a potential risk to me if I were to be a complete fuckhead and walk out into a busy road without looking. So I make a rational choice not to do that.

You, on the other hand, are clearly terrified of a vaccine whose risk to you is less than that of a lightning strike.
