Calling some a pussy does happen here, but only as a vulgar and regrettable Americanism. You wouldn't substitute another word. Calling someone a fanny is like calling someone a plonker, a pillock or a div.

Has a charmingly archaic only fools and horses quality and means silly sausage rather than effeminate coward

so Boris might say "do you want to be remembered as a patriot, or remembered as a fanny?"
No it literally means the front bottom but in a silly giggly way. Knowing Boris he is more like to say something like "Do you want to go down as a hero or a woofter?"

If Boris Johnson wanted to call someone weak or cowardly, he'd say "namby-pamby woofter."

Edit: cross-post with Rich.

so Boris might say "do you want to be remembered as a patriot, or remembered as a cunt?"

Go the full Malcolm Tucker.

There isn't really an English accent that contains the same suggestion of genuine malevolence, older comedy slang from London maybe, in which case swap cunt for mug.

I find it really jarring when British people use "pussy" or "ass" or "asshole" as an insult for someone, it feels like they learned how to be vicious exclusively by watching South Park

pussyhole still sounds odd to me. But in Scotland we use the word cunt as a term of endearment regularly.

If the resident Americans can’t muster the energy to be furious about this stupid thread then I am going to do it on their behalf.
