I'd also throw in Warren McCulloch and Walter Pitts, as they were in that cybernetics milieu with Mead and Bateson.

In a way, we should be grateful for our continental philosophers who ostensibly drew inspiration from this, as they pointed out what may be more substantially accomplished given a proper scientific approach, how such science may be connected to the more fleeting and nebulous phenomena as that which poststructuralism concerns itself with.

That is, the expression of human consciousness via science qua code, with the logic gate being an example of an exact unit of logic.

Yeah, and what I've realized lately is the 60s and 70s thinkers who humanized their mathy abstractions are probably equally important. Schelling, Goffman, Garfinkel. Still trying to figure out who their successors in 80s and 90s were.

Tho Bateson is Jungian and eccentric and humanist and insane, do you know anything about him? I'll try to post some excerpts in the morning. Acid head, hung out with dolphins, inspired RD Laing, worked with Alan Watts.
I watched the first episode of The Trap (Adam Curtis) earlier and a lot of this stuff came up. He talked about Hayek and Nash and Laing and Rand Corporation and Schelling and Buchanan and a bunch of other stuff re: the changing definition of freedom during the Cold War.
