It's like someone just hates food and decided to take a terrible revenge on the whole concept of it.
I know people knock British food - often, it must be said, with good reason - but food in the Netherlands often made me think of what food must have been like here in the 1970s.

If I recall correctly, there was one last year that got into the San Fernando Valley, where I live, but didn’t get close enough to warrant an evacuation.

I do think we had a family friend whose house got burned down though.

Our off-grid place still has burnt stumps dotted across the arid hills.

isn't that where much of the porn industry is centered, or was? do you know any neighbors who rent out their places for shoots?

also the home of the "Valley Girl" meme, right?
Yes, no, and yes. Also where Paul Thomas Anderson is from, and where most of his films are set, including Boogie Nights, of course.

There are frequently houses on our street that are being rented out by production crews, but the rating of the content is not evident to streetbound passersby.

Pretty sure the SF valley is the porn capital of the world, or at least the US.

Back in olden times on the "Tonight Show", Johnny Carson was fond of making "the valley" the butt of jokes, depicting people there as less sophisticated than those in LA, a place where weird things went on, vague allusions to the porn industry. Kinda like how NYers make fun of New Jersey (minus the porn part).

Yeah I've made some of those jokes myself on this board! The NY/NJ analogy is apt, plus the sleaze factor that is merely more implicit in the Film/TV industry than in the porn industry.

There are suburbs in LA proper, but the SF valley is effectively the suburban appendage of LA.

Also plenty of jokes made in Entourage. In one episode, they go to a high school party in the valley (referencing Almost Famous, and the title of the episode is One Day in the Valley, referencing Two Days in the Valley starring Dissensus-favorite James Spader).

I've heard the Valley can get hot as hell, is that true?

is it part of the Inland Empire, or is it east of that (sandwiched between that and LA)?

Yeah this summer strangely hasn’t been that bad so far, but it’s normal to get over 100 degrees F here.

Inland Empire is east of LA and SF, I think I’ve only been there a couple times

The American thing of keeping cats indoors all the time and thinking that letting a cat roam freely outdoors like basically everyone else in the world does is tantamount animal abuse. That's strange.

have to admit to being puzzled by Jackson Galaxy's insistence that cats should be imprisioned inside human dwellings - that's cruel in my book
