The fuck has Brazil got to do with us? If you're having to dredge the World Wide Web for Brazilian music cos you are so bored you are in big trouble.

If you are Pattycakes sniffing pure cocaine of a strippers tits in São Paulo obviously it's a different type of intersection. But listening with a load of goldsmiths students in an art school party in camberwell something gets lost.

I remember years ago walking the whole length of dalston road all the way from kingsland to Shoreditch looking for a grime night and there was sod all in that vein, but TWO different Balkan gypsy jazz nights in different places. That's when I knew east London was a massive mugs game

I don't mind all the world influences and some of the African stuff like nyege is alright, but whenever I've heard it out, I've always preferred other stuff on the same bill. Like I like the grim northern techno stuff more. And obvs jungle. I do have a penchant for the odd blend tho, particularly if it's a good system.

Shannen sp and nazar played the white hotel a while back and I went. It wax just ok really, can't remember much about it.. I think nazar has that one amazing tune but there's not enough else there. Shannen played a decent mix of stuff but none of it grabbed me particularly, maybe I'm the wrong demographic tho. The best set was Conor thomas resident set I would say.

Yeah that was obviously part of the problem. I did once walk to East ham from where I lived in homerton and realised at that point what was going on as well, how where I was was not real. Had some good gol gappas there I remember which was quite a thing for me

I realise this is an unpopular opinion on dissensus, and may be undercuts the whole point of the place, but I think you really have to reserve judgement on stuff like this. Is it good or bad? Who knows? To find out you'd have to go to the raves with a gang of mates and find out. But we're not gonna do that, most of us. Too old. But it's impossible to know what's going on in the rave without being at the rave

ive gone to some of these things in the past but im tired of the discourse. it's not really good or bad. just standardised clubby music. it just fulfills a safety valve function. nothing more nothing less. move on. whereas some of the hard acid on labels like bunker, for instance, whilst being music made to be played over huge rigs, wasn't made with the clean club in mind but dirty squats in the hague.

imho, of course.

'sideways not forwards' and 'club'. do me a favour - gonna have to do better than that. might as well say 'dance' instead of club. this is a poor piece of writing - feels like they were asked to do something to sum things up. it's lazy and not really saying anything. i know i should give reasons but i can't be bothered. all i'll say for now is that to mention manchester but not twh is a fucking travesty.

yeh one of my mates who plays at TWH lurks this bord.

Yes I was being sarcastic he does not love it. I'm not sure it's an indirect at that article but feels like it... I don't know the answer to your question. are you implying he's irrelevant? that it's sour grapes?

Oh right, thought you misunderstood, dint read the sarcasm.

Not sour grapes, more relevance. I mean he's done a few good remixes or whatever, but I dunno whether his opinion on what's going on has any bearing on things.

Apart from him being a proper working musician I suppose.

I mean that question has to come up in all this surely: the live show is where it's at for everyone in terms of Getting paid, but maybe there's a gap there in terms of audience and expectations. Like everyone listens to the mixes off the Facebook event, then they go along, and they hear it. Like there's no difference. Actually I've lost whatever point I was trying to make. Just that factor really, which isn't addressed in the article either. Like club spaces matter maybe. Dunno, I don't know what I'm writing here
