No... this government has pushed the "anonymous source" thing to the limit and beyond. Once upon a time an anonymous source meant someone who was privy to classified information that they thought ought to be available to the public and so they gave it to a newspaper. It was - an admittedly unverifiable by the reader - piece of underground information that we weren't supposed to have. This government (not just this one but they've gone ever before) has turned that on its head. They use "anonymous sources" to say what the government wants out there while constantly disavowing it in public. You have effectively two tiers of government information which often contradict each other - as a rule it seems that the anonymous one is closer to the official policy and yet can be denied with impunity when it goes tits up.
So, no, I don't trust an anonymous source from this government, especially if it says something good about Cummings as the general consensus seems to be that he IS the unofficial source ninety percent of the time.

i wonder about their "comms strategy" whether they are holding back info, so as to be able to manipulate the populace better, and whether that is a Cummings thing

and if that's not what's happening, then they don't even have a plan, fucking losers

I never thought of that, and my instinct tells me its too clever for them (have mentioned this before, but the main thing that springs to mind when you see all these government ministers on their lecterns, is that they really are quite incompetent at basic stuff, they remind me of very senior managers, who, forexample, cant do basic keyboard shortcuts), but then cummings is a criminal mastermind...

#dominicsgoing is trending on twitter, i think hes fucked, but equally, maybe yr right. I hope not tho, hes surely gotta go, otherwise a lotta credibility lost

it looks bad but I think many british people fully accept that their rulers do what they like. I’m not sure the public will care as much as the papers are making out, and we know that inner circle don’t dive a fuck about the rest of the party, the media, the opposition etc

yeah, true, plus the amount of 'normal' people also flouting the rules, cos they make no sense at the moemnt.

every statesman who has ruled in the way he has done will inevitably suffer a dramatic fall from grace, i just didn't think it would be so soon. he clearly has been less effectual on coronavirus as compared to brexit, perhaps just a general underestimation of the problem/lack of clarity on what he was dealing with.

i heard his voice for the first time, watching one of the video reports, and he sounds inhuman

I guess No. 10 are completely out of ideas having elected to go the 'fake news' route...

The Trumpification of the Tory party continues apace.

He deserves a facial tattoo like Manson. “Get Brexit Done”, right across the domed forehead, then force marched to a work camp for a few year’s worth of hard, indiscriminate penance.

I disagree with this. Think of the expenses scandal. There's an enormous amount of anger out there and this is a bit of lightening rod for it all. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

"Events' dear boy, events" as the saying goes. I hope it does him and whatever shit they're up to behind the scenes as much damage as possible.

Well it looks like he's got away with it for the time being, the journos were rubbish apart from that one ginger guy who kept it as one quick question. Good to see Boris squirm a bit but he's sticking to his script.
