I think that's in Johnny Mnemonic. I remember watching the film and scoffing at something along those lines.

yeah it's kind of Hemingway

I like it. it contrasts with his exact descriptions of things, or flashbacks, or whatever.

always the ellipsis - elide the worldbuilding, elide the action, elide the emotions

sometimes it gets - idk if precious is the word, up itself maybe, everyone does kind of turn into a cool taciturn badass

it's hard to say tho cos people have been ripping him in inferior projects for 40 years, mistaking the cool facade for the substance
That last bit is exactly what I tried to say.

So he's leaving by Christmas... though not as I'd always pictured it, by being literally kicked out of Downing Street and having to pick himself up, dust himself off and then put his stupid fucking hat back on his stupid fucking head and then run away from the laughter of the press.
It seems that the idea is that we're gonna get a new cuddly lovable Bozza back who is gonna say "Cripes bit of a mad one there, sorry chaps bit of a cunty few years there, dunno what came over me, but all the bad stuff was Dom - love me again!".

Glanced at the papers as I filled up my car this morning and there was a palpable sense of gloating come off most of them.

It doesn't feel right. I was convinced he was going to get prosecuted and go to jail. Perhaps that threat is what is forcing him to go.

So funny to contrast all that with his dreams of reshaping Whitehall. I would look up his blog for a quote but I can't be arsed. Cunt.

I can't handle these continual outbreaks of good news, it'll make us ill, like too much ice cream.

Is it good news? To me he's done loads of damage, flouted the law, given his mates loads of juicy contracts and is now leaving at a time of his own choosing (or pretty much I think) and in such a way that Johnson might have the potential to sort of "re-set" his leadership and blame everything on the departed.
I want him to die, not resign in short.

Yeah would be better if he was dead or preferably in jail - not 'cos I'm endorsing the sanctity of human life but because I'd like to see him publically humiliated and the lies unpicked.... but hey, y'know I'll take it. Will be surprised if Johnson pulls it back from the brink tbh.

any word on what did him in?

clearly a wanker but I confess to liking him a great deal more than I ever liked Steve Bannon, who was the closest thing to an equivalent in the Trump whitehouse.
