The imagery of cummings leaving with his box of stuff is quite interesting. What's this meant to signify? It's clearly deliberate - he didn't have to leave by the front door carrying a load of office supplies

It reminds me of the images of people leaving lehman bros. Is that the message here? Him as the victim of a corrupt leadership and a collapsing organisation?

His office was on Whitehall apparently, so it is definitely symbolic of something. Possibly just gave the media an image to use?

thought the same thing when I saw this earlier. I took it as a beheading for the public eye

How sad that there’s not a place for a genuinely revolutionary outsider like Dominic Cummings in government. The liberal media and the establishment got him in the end. He has so much left to do.
Ear test at Conwy Castle perhaps.

It reported that Johnson was unhappy with the characterisation of his partner, Carrie Symonds, in the media. He was “particularly riled by newspaper reports of Ms Symonds being referred to by nicknames including ‘Princess Nut Nuts’ by Cummings loyalists”.

You can so totally believe that each bit (princess, nut, nuts) has a story, and it's not just like they're randomly alliterating the nut nuts. They would have worked it all out and made themselves thoroughly laugh with it, then exacted great joy from passing on the explanation.

Yeah the details sit so squarely with the stereotype of these shitbags - totally believable.

What I'm surprised at is seeing loads of Leavers saying that Brexit, or at least the Brexit they wanted, is now doomed. I didn't realise that Cummings was such a talisman for them. From where I'm sitting Brexit has basically happened and all that is gonna change is a few minor details... it looks like we're getting the very worst version we could have imagined but we might get some very very slight mitigation. But what do they feel is going to change without Cummings?

Cummings is the only one who knew how to pick up the “trillion pound notes just lying on the ground,” so now there’s not even anyone who says they think brexit can turn out economically net-positive.

probably laying the groundwork for when it blows up in their faces, so they can claim "well, yeah, sure, THIS version of Brexit is a disaster. the version we originally wanted would have been far more successful".

Where's that quote about trillion pound note from, and what's it supposed to mean?

There may be some truth in that but I think that some have a genuine fear that Brexit (which has evidently been going fine up to now) will somehow go wrong from this point now that DC is gone. Just blind faith in his nefarious schemes to make Britain great again.

Seems like perfect ammunition for the Fox News equivalent they're looking to set up. They can draw in all the disgruntled Brexit supporters the way Newsmax and OAN have Trump supporters.

"The elites have stolen Brexit from you. We're the only ones telling it like it is."

yeah, I'm no Brexit expert so just speculating...and also thinking that's what McConnell and the GOP/conservative media echo chamber would do here in a similar situation.
