i yet have to watch many of these video's but it's a nice topic i think.

i remember there being a discussion some while ago about the video clip of an 80's (90's?) hip hop electro track that was situated in london's underground and how the reaction of the people being recorded differed so greatly from how people would react today. does anyone know which track i mean? i remember someone positing the question if you can still make a time document like that today because if you would try to do the same thing today, video record in public space, the public would react differently. i would probably keep reading my newspaper in the 80's if someone would record me, now, i'd kindly ask them to fuck off or i'd make sure i'm not in the picture.

was just watching this before on a random youtube dig. how's that for a reaction to being filmed? hard to imagine people being like that about anything now. somehow i envy them

What I find depressing about a lot of these kind of youtubes is you click on a lovely video of toothless old codgers getting pissed in a Bersondsey pub circa 1970s and every single comment underneath is a racist one.

If it makes you feel any better, the banter between the toothless old codgers in the 1970s was probably pretty racist too.

Darned cockwombles.

The Word had more epochal moments than most TV shows. 90% of it was total shit, even as a teenager, but the 10% -mostly the music performances and the bizarre personality clashes (Snoop Dogg and Emu) - was great.
And with that off to see on Twitter what Terry Christian thinks about coronavirus

I used to love it. Dani behr talking about American hazing, mark lamarr taking on shabba about homophobia, l7 getting bush out. It went all shit in the later years ('ill do anything to get on tv').

Throughout September and October the town lay prostrate, at the mercy of the plague, there was nothing to do but to 'mark time', and some hundreds of thousands of men and women went on doing this, through weeks that seemed interminable.
