yeah, kind of agree, maybe it'll grow on me. I'm a fan of previous stuff, so I'll give it leeway.

Atmosfear and A Story of Deepness are incredible. Compositions and production mix well out of tunes by folks like Herbert, a warmth of bass that's a joy to blend

Detroitism rocks. It turned up on a radio tape in a hazy age, instant rewind after dissolving in its sound. Hunted for a few months, tricky fucker because no info to go on thinking it was east coast. Heard out for years. Cut the bpm down to 122 (123 would be too 23) and it opens up like a quake

Defender, SJU and NLC = staggering quality control. Their tunes kick, romping along moog swing, sublime organ chord harmonies and separated lovely

Bliss, it's that simple

Fucked a mix with work interruptions, Underground Music Movement were in a wee pile. If you go for the earlier UMM serial numbers rather than the later bunk, oooph marone. A golden ratio for seismic groovers. No-one did crack-pipe organ key hooks like the Italians and Yanks

While digging through the archives for his debut solo album project on Apollo Records, Andy Cato rediscovered this DJ mix on an old c60 cassette. Recorded live from a free party on the South Downs "sometime in the early 1990s", the set is a spotters treasure trove of classic house cuts and captures the musical spirit of pre-Criminal Justice Act Britain. First introduced to the free party scene by his cousin, Digs (of British sound system legends, DiY), Cato spent much of this period circumnavigating the UK in an old Hillman Imp, travelling between the North's illegal party hotspots through to Castlemorton and beyond.

knocked out a few gems when he put his mind to it
