This is one of the best obviously.

I don't think I've ever met anybody IRL who doesn't love this like a beloved elderly relative.

BUT I NEVER ASKED DISSENSUS BEFORE.

I love this song. There's a strong element of nostalgia here cos my dad used to listen to it in the car when I was too young to be properly unhappy.

But that's true of a lot of music that I don't like anymore. I still love this. It makes me want to cry. Never such innocence again.

I love the shit keyboard, especially. That somehow makes it better. Know what I mean?

Knew a girl named Valerie in middle school. We liked each other. Then in high school we fell into different peer groups and we never spoke again. I think about her every time I hear this song. Man it’s been 37 years."

Tango in the night I love. It's perfect. Even though it's become inescapable over the last ten years, I still love it.

I've banged on about this on here so many times but my favourite songs tend to make me want to celebrate life and cry at the same time.

This is a perfect example of that bitter-sweet spot. So beautiful it hurts.

There's these three note cues for harmony changes in this (voice/bass/strings all together) that really do sound like some distilled form of sublimity. One of those hyper-intense sensations that I sometimes get when I've taken a lot of drugs. Full body orgasm.

One of the towering geniuses of music IMO. This probably isn't her best, tbf, but I have to share it now I'm listening to it. What I'm noticing this time around cos I'm listening on my new speakers is the incredibly sinuous baseline, sauntering up and down the scales. And the chorus with the belted out "remind me" and the more breathy, whispery bits interplaying.

I mean it's the same sweet spot as that Isley Bros isn't it. Some sort of sun-kissed heaven, late afternoon.

It's good to sit down occasionally and start rifling through the classics on YouTube.

Reconnects me with the passion that gave birth to this nerdery.

You know I love Patrice, but "towering genius" is going a bit far. I've actually got a copy of that Strut compilation from last year, and it's not all as good as this or 'Forget Me Nots'.
