Stray thoughts under partial quarantine

My neighbour's taken to playing opera every bloody day. I first noticed a sort of faint warbling and couldn't work out what it was then she started to play it louder and louder.

It's horrible. I feel like Alex in A Clockwork Orange when they're playing Beethoven through the floor to send him mad.

my neighbour was shouting at 7.30 am this morning, referring to me as a wrong'un (which is accurate) and a c*** (which i hope is not entirely true), asking what the banging was at 7am when i was asleep and far from the cares and troubles of this world, had i called the police god help me if i had, and saying he wanted to check my flat in case i had someone in there against their will (?!), threatening me etc.

he said he'd be back later but i've been out to the shop and no sign of him.

Sounds like he had a very vivid dream and woke up and didn't realise it had been a dream.

It's probably just the novelty but I'm finding being frugal much more emotionally satisfying than spunking money willy nilly. It turns shopping into a fun game.

Also my breathing has maybe never felt better, not for years anyway. It's like breathing spearmint. The road I live on is still very busy but obviously not like it is usually. It's a joy feeling the air going into the lungs now, it's amazing.

i'm in luka's camp again today. for me it's the absence of tourism that has transformed the city. i have been out all day today and it actually felt as if i was in a time capsule. as if i was driving my bicycle through berlin pre-airbnb and pre-easyjet. it felt sublime. the city is emptier but not because everybody is locked up inside, not at all, everybody is out. it is emptier because there are no tourists. and every person outside, sitting, walking, playing, dancing or singing, is someone who lives around the corner. it is so beautiful. please let it stay like this.

Hooray! I was very disturbed by negative yyaldrin. I can usually rely on you for a healthy attitude free from the morose and the morbid

Here's one for Leo and Corpsey, our boys in the advertising industry.

oh god, post-COVID commercials have been SO SHIT. yes, all the same, pulling at your heartstrings with generic touching messages and then at the end you find out it's for fucking uber or facebook. or "we're all in this together, we helping each other and going to be ok...and remember to BUY A TOYOTA when it's over!" dreadful.

Those photos make me wish I still lived in London. I wonder when was the last time the streets were that empty? Maybe never?
