I've noticed a giddiness. You can see it in the flurries of posts on here sometimes, people have bursts of silliness and hyperactivity.

is anyone else working in a corporate environment but doing home office now? i can't stand these video meetings any more. this morning the ceo had a massive video conference, all 120 of us logged in and he asked us to say hello or goodbye something in our native languages so they can record it and make a little video compilation as a memory of the times we're going trough at the moment. he asked us to do a little dance too, petting ourself on the shoulders as a sign of our hard work. it's so humiliating. naturally i have both my camera and my microphone taped so i'm not on it.

the other day he also announced we have to take our vacation days in april and we might have to work 20% less from may on. then a dozen of colleagues started mailing him (with the whole company in cc) thanking him for his brave decisions and how proud they were working for the company, the one even slimier then the other. are these people just licking his arse or are they really unaware of the fact that we're being exploited?

Who's alone for this? Version and me? Who else? Originally me and Barty were going to move in with Corpsey for the duration but we didn't get the details finalised in time.

they say you shouldn't live with your best friends though, imagine this beautiful thing you guys have here on this platform destroyed because of a fight over a dirty kitchen pan.

corpsey not being able to concentrate on reading his romantic poetry cos of all the dancehall and sex noises coming from barty's room.

I was alone for a few days, then decided to go to belfast and isolated, then freaked out being near my parents and now im in remotest donegal with mates. Good time to travel around a bit yknow,

I can't decide if i've made the right decision. I think everyone would be safer overall if I was back in London alone. Tough choices

Happens. I fell out with my best mate from school while we lived in a flatshare in 2002. It was over an unwashed plate and we didn't speak for 8 years.

yeah, not a good idea to live or work with good friends.

curious, how long did the plate go unwashed?

I'm curious, if you can share, how the rapprochement came about. I fell out with my best school friend about 12 years ago after an argument, and it kinda feels insurmountable at this stage. If there's one falling out I regret, it's that one.

Obviously an unwashed plate or an argument about a third person (in my case) is never the real reason for a big falling out, so reparation is a tricky matter...
Equally obviously, recognition of one's mortality makes one think about lost friends again.

that fits in with the ego thread doesn't it? i think its one of the saddest things and i've made a vow to myself never to let my ego come in the way of the friendships i cherish most.

Dunno, haven't seen the ego thread. It depends what you mean, really.

If you're talking about pride, then in my experience it's not that simple. Massive fallings out are usually the result of long-term unworked-through problems and ambivalence, it's not always a matter of having too much pride to make the first move. People change, too.

- Hasn't the shutdown of human activity (by and large) brought into relief how unconcerned with us the rest of nature is? (Leaving aside for a second the incalculable damage we do it all the time.) I mean that I was watching some crows (park again) and thinking about how totally unconcerned they are with this virus. It's just us wot cares. And spring will slowly set on, resplendent, as if everything was fine.

I wonder, though, whether the animals that are well habituated to living alongside humans are having a hard time right now? I'm thinking of rats, squirrels, pigeons, seagulls etc. that routinely live on half-eaten sandwiches retrieved from park bins, chips and chicken nuggets dropped on the pavement, all of that.
