South Korean Wrist Band

It sends an electric shock up the arm
as you near the perimeter
explodes
when you cross
that fatal line.

What was world is revealed as antechamber
What was the limits of creation
Revealed as paper thin walls
waiting Till we grow strong enough
To crack them.

Eggs within eggs within eggs
Born and born again.

slime

slime is in every household in the bottom of the binbag
the indistinct juice that forms from the trash
of different types. none are immune to this
ectoplasmic incursion from the dimension
of detritus, the cocktail of crap and last little drops
of lager or lavender, everything is added
to the marvellous medicine some call slime
it stinks and is always a colour of decay. corruption.
creeps through the pores of plastic packaging out
into the atmosphere another unseen enemy
another uninvited evil in the heart of the home
nothing supernatural about this stuff

until​

you recognise it for what it is - an experiment
conducted in every kitchen like a lab or an altar
for summoning this alien effluent, slime

gangrene

once we were warriors, now
we rest and recuperate rotting
from the outside in.

not wounded but wasting away
from an ancient condition -
a yellowish tinge.

flesh eaten slowly:
appetite never abated:
the jaws of disease devour
the discoloured, deteriorating limbs.

WHO CAUSES THE CRAZES AND DOES THE DANCING
WHO SINGS OF SOMEWHERE I'VE NEVER SEEN
OF FEMALE FASHIONS UNFAMILIAR
OF CONSUMERIST CLASSES AND CAPITAL
KOREAN CONSUMPTION GONE CALMLY CRAZY
WHO IS THE NOVELTY NEWLY ARRIVED

ON THE AIRWAVES​

AND ON THE EVENING PROGRAMS​

AND EVERYWHERE ACTUALLY ALL OVER THE CULTURE​

FOR WEEKS AT A TIME, WHAT HAS HAPPENED​

WHERE DOES THE GANGNAM STYLE GO​

I was on that field that day
and saw Hector run rings
around those walls
saw the birds of carrion
gorge on corpses

waste land-esque

picking up ghosts on the radio

conet numbers counting
in no particular order
old melodies no longer made
lyrics no longer living
k-punk classic hit parade hour
on a frequency inbetween
two old-fashioned pirate stations
a dead zone on the dial

vapour trails trace a runic alphabet
parallel to the powerlines
high above the houses historical
document of daily displacement
cross-continent quickly at a height
of fifty thousand feet carrying a cargo
people from place to place it seems
you used to be able to travel
hours at a time and leave behind that language in the sky

each observed by the all-seeing eye

to keep a caring eye on all inhabitants
and the sinful stuff on their screens.
