So it's kinda like when Will Self said that he thought that if he became a junkie like William Burroughs then he would be an author like him... but then he discovered he was just a junkie without any books (albeit he managed to change that later I guess). Milo now discovering that he's just a cunt with no books (maybe his thing came out in the end on some vanity publisher or something I dunno).

I think some of them were looking for a way to ditch him anyway as they were never really comfortable being associated with a gay Jewish guy.
Sounds like he's not really comfortable being a gay Jewish guy, either.

He got kicked off twitter and so on didn't he and now he's been online moaning about how he can't make enough money to keep him in champagne and so on... I can't get too upset about it. Even if he IS the victim of prejudice I don't feel too bad cos he's done so much to stir that up.
Someone who was on dissensus used to work for him ages ago... before he became famous I guess. Said he wasn't too bad as a boss or even as a person for what that's worth.
I can't remember anyone here working with him but someone here went to school with him, I think?

Jordan Peterson dug him out last year to basically do a Youtube psychoanalysis. Pretty interesting if you can stomach it

Is this still the cancellation thread?
Can we develop some strategies to delete a few of the bothersome bigots in public life?
I wanted us to analyse effective cancellations, work out the ingredients for a successful campaign and then get to work - the time is very ripe, like a smelly cheese
I think focussing on individuals like that is not the way to go. It can be fun and maybe that is the problem. We shouldn’t let these people off the hook, but removing the odd bigot from public life is only good for clicks unless the systematic bigotry that gave them their platform is also attacked.

There is a machine somewhere in a factory that produces these people for the public’s adoration and hate. They ride the gravy train until the last possible moment. There will be another one along in a minute.

Looking at the latest shiny outrage and focussing on the lips that say it or the fingers that type it ignores the machine, the factory.

that's a good point. vitriol gets aimed at the individual grifter while often the platform and the paymaster escapes attention. let alone the factory considered in the wider sense.

Sure, he was being funded (or at least having money funnelled to him) by Bannon at one point, I guess Koch brothers ultimately. These people are the real poison. But... on the other hand, he's a vicious arsehole so the fun aspect you mentioned above should not be ignored.

Oh yeah could be right. I read a big article about it all once. Basically Milo's job was to walk a tightrope where he wrote and published the most provocative stuff that he could while at the same time cutting out the stuff that actually literally called for lynching black people or burning Jews or whatever. Cos a lot of the people in that world were literally too dumb to understand that some things they couldn't get away with. The fact that he understands it miles better than most of them and yet fucked himself up by coming out in favour of a bit of harmless paedophilia every now and again speaks volumes...

Fucking right on cue Hopkins is in there looking for attention by slagging off Rashford. I need to follow my own advice and not click when she's trending.

Can't believe bartys been cancelled. He should have a special icon next to name to indicate cancellation.

Yes but he self-cancelled before he got actually cancelled. There is some honour in that, like a Japanese feudal lord committing seppuku as his enemy's forces surge over the walls of his castle, thus avoiding the ignominy of being taken alive. So the icon should be a little samurai dagger or summat.

"There's just something unsustainable about an environment that demands constant atonement but actively disdains the very idea of forgiveness"
Thoughts? Is this the environment we find ourselves in, or is this person being disingenuous?
