I read something the other day that I thought made sense, which went something like this. The fact that people are now liable to lose their job for no reason more concrete than a person saying "Your employee said something I don't like" is pretty shitty, but when conservatives blame the PC left for this, they're fighting the wrong enemy, because the supreme importance now placed on PR - the thing that makes employers behave like this - is a result, or aspect, of capitalism, and that it's the weakening of organised labour and the general rightward shift of the Overton window that makes it so easy to get rid of people.

Cancel culture is also that covert, down stream class warfare. The elite that get busted go on living just fine, most even get their careers back. But getting cancelled for the lower class people can be legitimately dangerous. Changes quality of life.

Well it only applies to people in the "public eye" isnt it, and in general people arent open or honest about their sins, so the whole deal is that their sins get exposed and they get cancelled. I don't think it applies to the "bottom"
i don't really like it when people say you have nothing to fear if you don't have skeletons in the closet, but i also think you'll agree that many people in teh "public eye" only got there by behaving in a ruthless and nasty way, so their cancellation is just
