To be honest I probably weakened my argument by mentioning Nina. I mean, whatever her true feelings about "pan-Turkic far-right paramilitary groups", having anything to do with Daniel Miller by that point surely spelled career suicide.John cancelled Nina, but it was more in sorrow than in anger.
Having been cancelled is the seal of approval you need. Then you can start writing for the spectator. It's like in defecting and denouncing the Soviet Union you instantly became valuable to the United States
LOL. I didn't "cancel" Nina nor do I have the power to do so.
Last time I checked she was still getting lecturing gigs and had a book coming out.
She has been paid, this week, to write for the Daily Telegraph about cancel culture, in fact.
It was only a mischievous joke, John. Sorry.
I mean I wouldn't want to get cancelled, would I.
The trans vs rad fem split is the major driver for all this at the moment. Dissensus had this played out in the form of Benny B vs Subvert 47 relatively early on although it remained fairly civil and no cancellations were made, as far as I can remember.
Yeah Nina is not banned or cancelled from here and is welcome as far as i'm concerned. Her issues were not only about the video, it was about her weird response to the allegations too, as far as i understand. Just wanted to make that clear.
I should at this time point out that my recent essay is somewhat of a philosophical defence of cancel culture, albeit a defence against 'free speech absolutism' rather than me making a positive case for it. Yes Nina Power is name dropped!
I will probably reversion it in a couple of weeks as a longer, more free-standing piece but for now -
