Later Rolling Stones Masterpieces

was just reading the last couple pages, everyone talking about how jagger is a terrible singer and knows he's shit and everyone knows he's shit etc.

I only really know the songs from scorsese movies but I don't understand this at all. I just listened to 'gimme shelter', 'can't you hear me knocking' and 'sway'. they sound amazing and the singing is great. loads of character and he's hitting all the notes and all that. even if it was off-key that wouldn't make it bad singing unless you're simon cowell, but he's not.

vocal performance on sway is especially good. I like this boys style

granted he sings in a strong american accent which is a bit odd especially dead flowers singing about cadillacs in a cowboy voice. but it's a testament to how good the singing is that that doesn't matter at all

It's like what people say about Dylan isn't it, that he's a terrible singer, it's missing the point completely. Jaeger was an amazing singer.

its a bit different. dylans awfulness is the entire point. jaggers is something you have to get around.

Dylan was certainly a technically, conventionally better singer in terms of hitting the notes and that when the occasion called for it

If you listen to Dylan's purer melodic country stuff you can hear he had a great voice, hits all the notes, and that's not an easy style to sing in, you have to be technically great. Granted his voice came and went over the years, but he wasn't a bad singer

But you think Lennon was a terrible singer too. It's funny you just can't account for people's tastes or what their idea of a good singer is.
