MIDI 2.0: is it the technological jolt music needs now?

Roland have launched a new synth that is MIDI 2.0 compatible, the A-88MKII

MIDI 2.0 offers 16 times as many channels, duplex connection, 512 times as many velocity values, better time management, etc, etc

But what does that mean for music production? MIDI emerged in 1983 and had a critical role in making hip hop production what it was. House, techno, jungle were all knitted together with MIDI, right?

So will a massive upgrade mean better, more interesting music INEVITABLY emerging and making our bushes shake for what's left of the 21st century? I'm thinking heat-come-alive fractally magmatic neo-jungle as well as collapsing skyscraper glass splinter techno you can never quite grasp in its entirety. Or is it no biggie?

is not like other people
MIDI just lets stuff talk to each other. it doesn't make any sound on its own. So my guess is also no biggie. Hip hop is more about 808 sounds. acid 303s. jungle Akai samplers. etc than the MIDI syncing them all up. you can go at flashcore rates on a computer anyway. so i don't know how much impact this will have.
