At its simplest, at rest, the crane is an uneven cross, a deformed crucifix, stunted on one side, overgrown on the other. Christianity out of balance. Looking over the city, about to move.

They are a sign of things to come.

The cranes are before the towers. They represent our imagination. They are active when looking down to us. When they rest, they do so almost at full stretch, in rings as like animals, protective of one another.

The towers can get built, but might also fall, in fact will never reach where we want them to reach.
