Beast of Burden
Corpsey has been mournful and lacking energy for weeks, but today he's giddy and silly again.

I think we need some inductive method going to get this off the ground. Get some embeds in and I will give you the immediate inspection, for what that's worth.

corpsey what were those videos we were looking at the other day? can you remember?

A lot of these videos look like they were filmed at kew gardens and the barbican centre.

That Dave song is so generic, quite surprised it's so popular. He did that one really good song that Drake jumped on.

It's all so generic, isn't it, you can imagine people listening to it by swimming pools and beaches all across the world.

That dancehall derived beat is omnipresent in pop music, or was a few years ago.

This is the tune that got me excited about this fusion in the first place, really, but i've not heard other tunes like it since

bartys notorious multiculturalism thread was mostly about this rather than trying to start a race war. but it was much funnier to pretend he was trying to start a race war so we all went with that instead.

Maybe what happens nowadays is that things get professionalized extremely quickly.

This happens with all sorts of things, so why not music?

this is why i was telling catalog the badness of jarmans films is what makes them good.

Take those Wiley tunes, for example. They're solid, they tick boxes, you can imagine them having commercial success, but they're not remotely exciting as his grime stuff was.

It's the same with rap music in the US, actually — you reach a certain commercial level and you get this professional sheen which is by turns hugely impressive and strangely emotionally vacant. (I can't help but think of Marvel movies as I write this.)

To return to the subject of what you feel about the music, I recall you were pretty positive about rinse FM pop. What's changed? Is it that rinse FM pop felt more amateurish, or was less homogenised by virtue of its magpie tendencies?

And then tell me about your mother.

maybe i just like pop house better than pop rap. or maybe because it felt cuter and less oppressive 6 years ago. maybe ive changed. dunno.
