Good call, yeah I love his woodcuts and some of his tunes. And I love that book he did, sex crimes of the futcher, where he just goes on and on about how much he hates his bird (trace I guess) and how the art school was prejudiced. Really good book that, I tried another of his but was rubbish
I'm not sure if it's a case of time allocation (for practice) or just a 'what are the odds' thing but I reckon it's extremely rare to be a really good painter AND a really good musician.
Blake is extremely rare in being a great poet AND great artist. Actually resembled his hero Michelangelo in that (although I'm not sure what reputation Michelangelo's poetry has outside of Italy).
Van Gogh apparently wrote amazing letters to his brother, but I've not really read those.
Yeah I've read My Fault, in which he has sex with a dog at one point, among other grim stuff about sexual abuse. Not a big fan of his writing really (too indebted to Bukowski) but his paintings and woodcuts are cool. Love the Milshakes and the Headcoats as well.
i'm working on a gesamtkunstwerk, the idea is that i'm not good enough or talented enough to establish myself as a musician or a painter. so i have to come up with something more pretentious. the idea is to build a small model of a hut and put it on a small pillar in the centre of a beautiful room. in front of the hut there is a little model of a fireplace. and little figures and shapes are dancing around it. i can make this from cardboard, papier-mâché and other simple materials. on the walls in the room i will present my paintings and drawings, they are supposed to represent shadows projected by the little fireplace in front of the little hut. simultaneously my music will be played.
all of you will be invented for the grand opening.
i'm not such a big fan of nudity as performance art but i could make a special one-off night just for you guys where you can all come naked yes. i'm just afraid it will overshadow my grand project and the press will only talk about a bunch of naked english nutters.
