I want him locked up. I despise him. Worst man in England. Hate hate hate

Just joined - was wandering cyberspace for weeks in search of a person or persons who hated Robert Macfarlane as much as I did.... and got sucked into dissension

This thread is for the two of them to demonstrate the intensity of their loathing for the country's foremost curator of twee archaic dialect words for a particular type of cloudy sky or the manky bits of wool that hang off a sheep's arse.

I’ve already been called out by Luka for admitting that I like McFarlane, even if his prose can be a little florid at times. I think his film on Essex for the BBC Wild Places is very good and I like his essay on the Broomway/Doomway in The Old Ways. He’s a big fan of Edward Thomas which is no bad thing too.
I’ve also met him and he is really very funny and not pompous at all. But go ahead you two, fight it out Harry Hill style.

I'll read him before forming an opinion, but the clip I saw of him was proper Ben Fogle.

El Stinko currently in the lead but there's only one point in it. Voting ends on Friday, so be sure to cast yours by then.

It’s sad, I know. But I’m sure I’m very far from being an anomaly ( one who trawls the net to fan ones hatred ) But i needed to know I wasn’t alone. You see, I’d read so much glowing hype surrounding everything young Robert touches that I confidentially ordered a hardback copy of The Wild Things..... only to discover that it was a rancid pile of shrandangle ( that’s the old Saxon word for the dangly bit near a sheep’s arse) As Nabokov complained about Jane Austen : (He) doesn’t make me see.” That’s about it. Sorry

Urm, not really. I’m more of a Joy Division, Wire kind of chap. Why do you ask ?

There's a renegade, idolatrous, but vocal faction of the forum that are very fond of Autechre. The rest of us want to delete their music from the archive permenantly.
