This is an attempt to grasp life by the molecular unit: the day.

a day, this day. what happened? what did you do? what actions did you perform? doesn't have to be exciting. doesn't have to have a narrative. doesn't have to follow laws of causality. short and neat descriptions. humanize the routine.

it's not an appeal to agency, to seizing the day. no existential ponderings.

it's about moving from the cold detached anxiety ridden plane of the relative towards the absolute.

a day. how did you move through the world in this day. what modes of existence did you engage in.

i think this could be a good idea but i'm not sure.

I think this is a great idea the success of which will depend on the example you set. Set the bar high and this thread will be one of the great artworks of the 21st century.

I bought this book last year with no intention of ever opening it just because I loved the title so much

So far today I came to consciousness in the mire of cider and Chernobyl dreams, feverish, lurid, fairground mirrors and snot and I took the decision to prolong it, explore it rather than waking up. That was my first choice. Stay in this grotesque dream carnival another hour.

Woke at 10. Snotty, with red irritated eyes. Had a piss with booze bladder. Washed hands. Looked at red irritated eyes in the mirror. Splashed face with cold water. Went to kitchen. Drank water. Feel it cool and healing in raw throat. Did 10 minute 'meditation' in bedroom.

Start to get more of a sense of energised opposition that my guru Adriene is always on about. Grounding down through the thighs, up lift of heart, current of energy up the spine. Bleary and using that absence of edge to my advantage. In the pool of unfocused perception. Wind in the elder bush.

Hope it's over soon, look at clock, 4 more minutes...

Look again, ok done that. Make coffee. Grind beans. Boil kettle. Drink coffee while reading my book. Enjoy a passage. Toy with the idea of starting a bad trips thread using that passage as an introduction. Finish coffee and go on dissensus. Say lots of clever things. Feel pleased with self.

This is yesterday.

Supposed to be working from home but I didn’t really do any work.

I went for a walk, grey weather but quite nice and warm. Went in a second hand bookstore had a look. Asked the guy about some authors, he said he didn’t have anything by them. Bought a book for 50 kr. Had to pay by mobile app and had to update the app so I had to wait a bit for the internet to work.

Had a short conversation with the guy about relying on technology. Not an earnest discussion, just more of a friendly chat. He told me to be calm and that people were too impatient these days. I told him that I didn’t like those self checkout machines they have at the supermarket and he agreed. He told me that when he played billiard with his friends they had a rule that anyone caught looking at their phone when it was their turn had to buy the next round.

The app went through and I put in the phone number and saw his name appear and said it askingly and he said yep that’s me. I said have a good day and went home.

Then I thought about reading the book but played playstation instead and then took a nap. Woke up to messages on the phone asking who wanted to grab a beer.

Went to meet two of my friends at a bar around 7. Sat outside and had beers but it got a bit cold so we found another bar and went inside. Had a few more drinks and then went home to one of the friends. Met his girlfriend who i hadn't seen before. Got pretty drunk, biked home around 3 and crashed my bike into some other bikes right where I live. Some people helped me up and seemed concerned, it was very embarrassing.

Ate some yoghurt and a box of spicy seeweed because that was all I had. Went to bed.

"All human minds, as they move about over the face of the earth, are in touch with a dark reservoir of our race's psychic garbage. Just as all the thrilling and vibrating thoughts that have animated human organisms survive the deaths of these organisms, so all the heavy, cloddish, murderous, desolate thoughts, in which free will and faith and happiness perish like asphyxiated gnats, roll themselves in a foul torrent into a great invisible planetary Malebolge. This Malebolge is always present and near, a little way below the surface, for all our human minds; and it needs certain occurrences, or certain arrangements of matter, to cause an odious and devastating effluvia from its surface-scum to invade the arteries of our consciousness"

The passage from my book I was taken with this morning.

self-promotion does not work on this forum so i won't post the link, but i used the day as the structuring principle for the novel i wrote, so i was well ahead of this thread

Take shower spit brown coffee spit into shower. Take pleasure in how unwholesome the brown spit looks. Do it a couple more times. I'm totally naked. Water running off my naked body. As slim and tautly muscled as an adolescent. A naked Caravaggio. The young Dionysus.
