there's a storm coming in tonight so right now it's 4pm but you have to turn the lights on, the thickest cloud everywhere, all the tall buildings are covered in them.

met a guy who's visiting from kenya today and he was complaining about how cold it is. he was shocked when i told him it would get colder. it's 18 C

I just went ahead and chainsawed the lot myself. The woodsman wanted £200. No chance, mate. I filled 3 builders bags with twisted thorns, branches, and foliage. I just went at it, chainsawing shit until I could stomp it into the bag, put it in the wagon, and hurl it into the tip. Even the queue for the recycling centre was enjoyable, 87.5FM was playing very bassy old skool. windows down, sunroof open, more fun than Glastonbury was this year.

But 70 and sunny by noon tomorrow, Shaka.
your powers of prediction are incredible. it ended up being glorious last night. i was walking around chelsea and meatpacking (wow that is a horrible bit of town), union square that kind of area. everything had a kind of luminous haze to it, all the shop lights and car lights had a sort of aura around them. then looking up an avenue where the sky would open out you could see these hazy balls of light and mist in the distance.

ended up at basement standing in the garden in a t-shirt at 1am which is mad for mid-november. that is a really perfect club for my tastes. the soundsystem makes such a difference, it's loud but not harsh, has that weird thing where the bass feels really full but you can somehow still talk to the person next to you fairly easily. quite like the door policy i think (but then of course i would, they let me in). getting the L out to the bushwick madness, and then having to walk for fifteen minutes past car repair shops and warehouses adds to.....well i guess it feels a bit like you're in the know, maybe that's a shallow thing. but i saw the line for House of Yes and it reminded me a bit of when they zoom in on crowds on festival TV coverage, like people were performing having fun. also everyone wanted me to give me drugs at basement.

walked down to the financial district this morning, zero humidity and 20 degrees, nice blue sky. that part of town is underrated, and it's nice at the weekends because there's not many people there outside of the tourist clusters.

Powers of prediction = looking at the weather app on my phone.

You're doing it right, Shaka. Traipsing the city by foot and bike, going to galleries, hanging at the cool clubs. We live vicariously through you.

one aspect of nyc weather that people don't mention are these occasional days of heavy cloud, where the light completely changes and everything has the dark, dum tone. its really dark this morning.

@IdleRich i'm in lisbon for three hours only, the weather so far as i can tell is thick darkness, i was going to pop into town but for some reason the clocks are set to the wrong time and it apparently only gets light at 7.30

(nb i'm only at the airport before you with predictable hospitality try to take me out and feed me drugs, possibly find a slot for me to DJ, cut a recording of me rapping to dubplate etc etc)

Lovely today, got pics of sunrise from the balcony with a somewhat better camera than before, for the second day in a row, heading to the beach. Probably the last time it will be warm enough this year.
