Clouds

i like the ones that are really crispy and clear like cauliflower buds, really tangible not wispy at all

and they move so inexorably and ineffably, you can't put a finger on them or quite see them moving, but they don't stay the same for long at all

and when you get up close, in your aeroplane or air balloon, they turn out to not really exist where you thought they were just little steamy strands smacking wetly

and i like the white fluffy ones that float along insubstantially under a sea of darker cloud, rainy like wet west wales from childhood holidays

i like the idea that you can auger with clouds but never see much shapes, any more than in coffee grounds, they are useful for predicting weather though i suppose

apart from lying in a mates front garden waiting for him to get home, wondering if i was tripping and thinking how i'd know when i saw faces in the clouds and straight away spotting the prophet moses gazing down on that moonlit night benevolently bearded

I quite often try to imagine how it would be on a gas planet (fragrant i expect!) what "life" would be like, what you'd experience on your space probe heading for the core through the multicoloured clouds and nothing but clouds

can you tell the height of a cloud by looking, i think they defy eyes, and are toobright to stare, impossible to say how high they are up or how big or how far away, like floating mountains
Its good when you go up a mountain and above the cloud line, you get to see the curvature from the tip, totally different view, to see that bend from above

I like the idea thatr the famous luke howard of bruce grove was naming clouds individually, with classic victorian names like aloysius or eustace or gertrude

He was from Plaistow. Nothing at all to do with Bruce Grove. He wouldn't be seen dead round that way. Newham boy.
