huh I always saw Lost Highway as the warmup to Mulholland Drive, the first failed attempt before the masterpiece, but maybe I just like sleek sheen more

Have you read the DFW essay on Lost Highway?
no i can't say that i have. infinite jest is a book i gave up on after about 400 pages. I seem to remember reading a few essays by him that were OK, but generally I view DFW as a bit of a twat.

But my all time favorite of that sort of ilk is this one by Mike Berry


although maybe it's not the same ilk at all really, cos it's so obviously a different 50s?
