Q Magazine goes tits up

Q magazine was one those ones you’d never buy but would read round at someone’s house if it was boring enough.

The thing in itself going is fine but it is symbols and portents of a shift towards everything being “content”.

I feel old again - in the mid 80s it was casuals vs goths/punks/hippies/metallers .

In retrospect the casuals would also have been subdivided into various football and geographic factions and some would have been more into music and whatever. This sort Of sociological analysis was not our top priority at the time though.

There was a grudging mutual acceptance of hip hop that some of us managed without violent interaction if we met as individuals.

Very parochial. There have always been degrees within casual culture, but there are always cultural transaction points with music beyond the usual. Not to follow the acid house myths, but I’ve been spangled at more than a few venues aeons ago, indoor and out, where certain clans have coalesced. No issues other than common sense, but train stations have proven nightmarish.

Even before that the adrenaline rush of going jihad drinking on away days had a unique glow with risk management. Hibs away was the tastiest. Got monsooned at Easter Rd. Pre-seasons at Leeds, Stoke, Chelsea and Spurs could be vicious. Leicester, Pompey (horrid cunts). Just never lose sight of Gers. These days you have ex-ICF printing tales of rampaging sociopaths in this terribly written niche literature (excluding Bill Gardner), youtube littered with grown men running round through streets. Old as fuck and not aged very well.

Yeah that was what I was trying - and failing no doubt - to get at in my first post. None of us here read Q magazine but we can all see it's a sign of something bigger.... not a portent, more like the inevitable confirmation of a portent.

Oh yeah I meant to say that QAbon being banned on Twitter at the same time was weird - could there be a link?
Also Q The Winged Serpent hasn't been in the news recently, ditto Q by Luther Blisset - this can't all be coincidence. And James Bond delayed... no Q this summer.... hmmm.
