social media surely has amplified this hyperawareness of identity narrative but I feel like i've always had a sense of it

Barty is about the same age as you and he can't go 5 minutes without mentioning he's middle class or referring to race, his whiteness or someone else's blackness or whatever it is. your lot have had that stuff drilled into you to the point you can't think of yourself as individuals at all. always as the representative of some larger clan or bloodline. it worries me.

It's just a basic thing in films isn't it? We have to see the bad guy do some incredibly horrible evil violent stuff so we can cheer with a clean conscience when even worse is done to him. Righteous violence is fine.

When you're a sensitive soul like me, even righteous violence will make you feel bad.

Like I can imagine stamping on piers morgan's face until its a bloody pulp and then feeling really bad about it afterwards and offering to take him to Nandos.

As a final act of cruelty?
Well I'm not a fan of violence either - and I'm always totally disarmed by any kind of apology - but I can imagine certain circumstances in which It would feel justified (either to watch or do) and I don't think I'd feel guilty afterwards.

I'll happily watch a fight if both parties are into it.

Maybe I wouldn't feel bad about punching someone in the face if we were in a boxing ring. I've got a feeling I would feel bad if I actually seriously hurt someone though, even in that situation.

Obviously I'm also a physical coward and would be mainly worried about getting my own head caved in.

what about pitbull fights? that would be amazing to see. it's a shame in a way you can't watch them on youtube.

I'm actually very good at the art of the disarming but dignified apology: a combination of Sun Tzu and a cheap passive aggressive move, I take a malicious kind of pleasure in it.

they're literally bred for it. that's signing up for it.

It's cruel IMO the breeding is part of the violence... Don't they make them fight to the death, too?

I guess you could say the same thing about MMA/Boxing... Looking at Mike Tyson, for example, he very much portrays it as being that he didn't have any other choice but to box and he was trained to be a cold blooded killer.

I'd love a thread about animals fighting, actually (but only in the wild, nude)
