The Box

Can’t remember it apart from it being a list of my favourite things in a box. Stuff like fruit pastilles, something about a spider web, my family... and finished with “my box...... is my brain“

!!!!!!!!! 🤯🤯🤯🔥🔥

it's the last line which marked you out as something special. they knew they had a prodigy on their hands.

the reason im glad i wasnt brought up catholic is that you have to love your family. youre not allowed to keep them at arms length like we do. looks a bit claustrophobic.

Anyway I stopped after magic box. Ended on a high. I remember at that age I used to lie awake and then bounce out of bed fizzing with ideas and the urge to create!

the UK channel was probably the most important and exciting thing in the world to me when I was 10 and we finally got cable tv. Music videos in all their glory.

Given to me by a young scientologist who tried to kill my boyfriend, literally to take over his NYC apt and use it as a studio to draw plans for "pods" all over the US. I had beat him up and he later returned with this apology gift. LOL.

full disclosure: ADC (Art Director Club) is a client, they give out an award called the ADC Cube. For that video, they adapted the archetypal story arch of "the hero’s journey” into six acts to tell the story of the Cube’s creative journey, and partnered with six different illustration and animation studios from around the world who volunteered their time to interpret one acts each. Each studio was given a basic description of their segment, but did not get any creative directive or see the animations done before theirs. The end product is six different creative visions, one for each segment and done in a vacuum, strung together. the contrast in styles is dramatic, but flows nonetheless.

the snippet posted upthread reminded me how theatrical it is. not boring cinema acting, more histrionics. very good.

the cube is a great film, think the sequel was a bit rubbish though
Released in 2002, in Hypercube, the industrial-style, colored rooms of the first film are replaced with high-tech, brightly lit chambers; instead of industrial traps such as flamethrowers and extending spikes, the rooms have "evolved", as they control illusions, time, space, and reality.

woops

is not like other people
yeah that's right, the sequel came across as a higher budget remake of the low-budget and predictably better-as-a-result original
