it;s very annoying when people just make stuff up, that's just whimsey. but mvuent made a good point. i basically agree with the good point he made, the rousing speech, but i would add that minor proviso

I often wonder about my imagination

Would it flower if I wasn't cramming my eyes with so much shit all the time? All the TV and Twitter and what have you.

I devote a lot of it to masturbatory fantasies too, probably if I wasn't wanking all the time I'd be writing the 21st century Proust opus but with added wizards that the world needs in these tough times

just finished it, pretty good. reminded me of "rescue me", except set in a restaurant instead of a fire department station.

don't think i agree with that all. my favorite parts of woops' novel are moments where he blatantly makes stuff up like the roots of a plant in flower shop stretching way underneath the city and reemerging in the ocean like a sea monster.

Latest episode of Rings of Power was shite, and featured the most laughable cheesy "reveal" (which I won't go into here cos it'll spoil your fun) imaginable -- almost unimaginable, actually, cos you wouldn't think it was possible to do something so dumb

Actually there were two super dumb reveals so I'll specify that I'm talking about some text that appears on screen

The one thing I like in it is the friendship between Elrond and Durin

Having watched the last episode the other day, yes, it was dumb beyond belief. In fact the whole series was very badly written. A billion bucks down the bog.

What's the best fantasy book ever? (Assuming it isn't Lord of the Rings)

Assuming also it isn't Earthsea, cos I know about that one

Is there a really amazing knock out book that has orcs in it? Or is that a contradiction in terms
