There are any number of groups doing things at a given time and a Drake can swoop in and thrust them into the public consciousness almost arbitrarily.

I think the pulse is what it is independent of whatever Drake (at least Drake of 4-5 years ago, I think he's lost it) does with it, but it could be possible the pulse never assumes its place as the pulse if it wasnt 'activated' by your Drake/Bowie types.

You get intensities of social energy coming from the fringe that can be harnessed only in particular ways- Drakes individual touch isn't completely absent, but I think what he was doing more than anything was showing the public what they didn't know they already enjoyed. Compare that too a Future/young thug type who affected the pulse by brute force, just putting out tons of music until the pulse caught up with them.

I didnt know Bowie had a jungle appreciation. I think by the time Kanye was on to grime he was already off the pulse.

Im saying these movements owe nothing to these types except for how its first presented to a wider audiences, but maybe by that point were no longer talking about the pulse

he was the pulse. but only cos nasty and more fire and etc were there too.
