i also imagined that i'd meet loads of interesting cool people when i got there but that was a bit optimistic.
One of my brothers is at uni doing music and he ran into the same issue. He thought he'd meet a bunch of people who were into Xenakis and Evan Parker and whatnot, but apparently they just like the stuff on Pitchfork.

your american friends were complaining about the same thing yestwrday or the day before. you have to go online to find your peers really. they dont exist in the wild.
