There's been far too few dissensus drunk rampages. We need more bad behaviour. Drunken outrages.

gut feeling, hes basically a good dude, maybe a bit misunderstood

perhaps the federal authorities will clear up the misunderstanding of how a million dollars of donations which he said would be used for wall construction ended up in his pocket.

Well of all the potential embezzlements, can't see how this one is at all devastating.

Was it really funded by donations? Or was there some budget allocated for it? I haven't looked into it, nor am I familiar with how these things work.

it was entirely funded by donations, from marks of the conmen. maybe your should look into it and get familiar with how these things work.

oh yes very much so. literally a GoFundMe. Leo is right, you should look into it, because it's very funny, but in a nutshell:

building a wall along massive stretches of border is unsurprisingly, extremely expensive - projected at well over $10 bn iirc

Congress did allocate some $ for it but only a (relatively) small portion of what was needed

Trump was been trying to wrangle all kinds of $ for it for years, including illegally diverting bns from defense budget

at the height of manufactured border hysteria - remember the "caravan"? - there were various crowdfunding efforts by MAGA types

Bannon + some cronies cashed in on that by setting up a wall GoFundMe and using donation to do yr typical embezzlement life of luxury things

it's extremely pedestrian fraud, and at the same time hilarious to see how cynical Bannon etc are about their own MAGA base

literal border wall profiteering

not that conmen scamming marks is something to laugh at in normal circumstances

but I have a very hard time feeling bad for anyone who chose to give $ to this particular GoFundMe

mind I don't doubt it's politically motivated

not in the sense that he's innocent, but in that it's very hard to imagine this indictment happening if Bannon was still on the inside

given the the amounts that have surely been ripped off in one way or another over the last four years, to be indicted over a paltry million dollars or so?

for a guy who is so undeniably good at propaganda, he seems to be equally terrible at political in-fighting. he must've really burned those bridges.

the fact that it's for ripping off his own people tho - that's the joy of it

a small pleasure but one has to take them where one can these days

Was it someone on here who pointed out Trump fired Berman, the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, on June 20th and Bannon was arrested on August 20th? I can't help wondering whether the firing was based on knowledge this was coming down the pipeline.

remember the "caravan"?

yeah, classic. for months in lead up to the midterm elections, it's was the #1 daily scare tactic for trump and Fox News...and then, literally, disappeared from the headlines the day after the election, LOL! you (almost) have to admire the sheer, unabashed politicizing of a manufactured "crisis", and the unapologetic moving on as soon as it's outlived it's purpose.

It's funny, Bannon was always presented as - or sought to present himself as - the great ideological brain behind Trumpism (to the extent that "Trumpism" is anything other than a collection of con tricks), but in the end has turned out to be just another self-interested crook like all the rest.
