The Gut

It's nothing to do with us anyway so it's academic. No one asks me or you. We can say anything, profess any belief. Makes no difference. We live in the same world under the same circumstances. We know we can't do anything so we ignore it and get on with our lives. Make some money. Spend some. Get drunk. Fall over. Sometimes feel good. Sometimes feel bad. Politics doesn't exist. It's just another thing on telly.

But if you're asking me what would I like to see I would like to see the mobsters that run the planet come to the same end as Mussolini or Ceausescu. That's what's would cheer me up.

Part of the problem for progressives is that the revolutionaries these days are the right-wing populists. We can huff and splutter and say that that's a false narrative, but it's the dominant one, and that's what's important. I don't have an answer.

Do you find things go better or worse for you when you listen to it? How sharp are your instincts?

I trust it when I have to read people and situations live... body language, character. But for more complex information and events, decisions that aren’t about sizing up the intent of people right in front of me I think it’s important to challenge instincts

also purely rational decision making is mostly illusion, our gut and bias and mood etc are always somewhat in play

I don't know. There's what you want to do with your life, and politics is part of that. What you want to support, what you think is good, give energy to. Ethical principles you cultivate, causes you support. That's all politics or at least, comes out of thinking about political questions. Party politics is just the most debased form of it, and should be roundly scorned by all thinking people.

cant agree with that. That's why I keep my politics nice and simple and killing focussed.

I'm currently on good terms with my gut. I let it choose what books to buy, what films to watch, what things to do.

i only just found out that the gut is a separate living entity to the central nervous system. so if your head was cut off, the gut would apparently continue to live, as long as it had an oxygen supply. i've been surprised by this news.

Was looking for this, my mate found it today and sent it over.

Completely separately, I was doing a bit of research into a music guy from Manchester called Matt Wand, who was in "Stock, Hausen and Walkman", and he ran this label "Hot air" for a while.

One of their releases was a rwmix/edit of this old album

The definition of peristalsis is interesting:

"Peristalsis is a series of wave-like muscle contractions that move food through the digestive tract. It starts in the esophagus where strong wave-like motions of the smooth muscle move balls of swallowed food to the stomach. ... The motion mixes and shifts the chyme back and forth"

And it turns out one of my favourite Manc artists, Croww, has a tune called "Peristalsis"

Yes, but that fisting anecdote though....

I’ve got one. An ex could only cum from extended (how shall I articulate this) anal widening. Never used rubber gloves for fuck all up until that point, now they’re everywhere

One day we went to her brother’s yard to make small talk etc and as we arrived he greeted us with one purple latex glove from some yard work. She glanced at me momentarily and then it was all you could do to not to die laughing

This is not a sordid story, it’s about human sexuality and the abuses a gut can take. Blame @catalog , he started with fisting and feeling heartbeats, I never went beyond the forearm

It's all suddenly become very clear to me. Fisting is about meeting the other thing that lives inside us all.

Now we know where the user name comes from.

I don't rate Bruce Sterling as a writer but he said something in an old interview that always stuck with me and turned out to be bang on the money. He said people in the future won't take recreational drugs they will take performance enhancing drugs to get ahead or stay afloat in capitalism
Nothing like getting in a dig on another writer when one - unasked and just feels like it : (
