i like the idea of dance music without kicks or with less emphasis on them for one thing, as a bit of a weird experiment, but i've also been wondering if the lockdown has made me particularly up for amapiano/the london version of it. really heavy shit has not been very appealing to me since april. this has been music to cook to or put on when sitting in my garden aka ten foot square of outdoor concrete. maybe it's extra refreshing compared to the the samey hard techno revival sound that seemed to be the go to in other sections of dance music for the last year or so.

interested to see what other labels will emerge releasing this stuff. these two from Kaang on drmzu are also highlights. a lot less log drum/bass than housupa releases, definitely still a bit of a different (london?) twist on afrohouse to the afrohouse i've heard before
