Big big look.

old school meets new school

boss settings, boss mix series, previous instalments by dj naughty aka nick fostell, kg, bakongo

scotti d mix of his own productions with the added bonus of calle lebraun throwing down his lockdown material

It's not 100% there yet but there are some mad tunes dotted about in this. Some old stuff too though

That Scotti Dee snare roll thing at 28 minutes turning up a lot (37 minutes too)

sounds like london

that scottie dee remix is the one >>>

i guess most tracks in this thread are from Housupa at this point but my other faves are...

cool to see the south africa uk link being made explicit

i like the idea of dance music without kicks or with less emphasis on them for one thing, as a bit of a weird experiment, but i've also been wondering if the lockdown has made me particularly up for amapiano/the london version of it. really heavy shit has not been very appealing to me since april. this has been music to cook to or put on when sitting in my garden aka ten foot square of outdoor concrete. maybe it's extra refreshing compared to the the samey hard techno revival sound that seemed to be the go to in other sections of dance music for the last year or so.

marcus nasty calling it funkypiano in that rinse show. maybe that's the thread title v2.

interested to see what other labels will emerge releasing this stuff. these two from Kaang on drmzu are also highlights. a lot less log drum/bass than housupa releases, definitely still a bit of a different (london?) twist on afrohouse to the afrohouse i've heard before

these bits on d malice's label are intriguing, albeit more on the amapiano side of things. i had the same experience with deep tech. it took the 'uk' sounds to pique my ears to the inspiration, the original.

some absolute heavyweight on this x5 mix, sounds like his own productions.

I wonder if Creed still enjoys doing that comedy cookie monster voice in 2020 😂

First banger at 8 minutes in. Reminds me of funky. In fact the whole thing reminds me of funky.

I see glasshand posted it in this thread - 'china man' (quarantine mix)
