most big cities are just filled with depressed people it's just that they make it look really interesting and beautiful on instagram. i understand you would wanna move out of a very rural place though, you wanna meet some people after all.

the insurmountable problem with living anywhere but one of the worlds greatest cities is that you will have no one to talk to. being isolated and alone is really bad. i found this in Sydney. too small. everyone is of below average intelligence.

Conquering New York is a bourgeois fantasy, all it means is you buy a big apartment, have dinner parties and then one day Woody Allen shows up and asks to shoot a scene

No I'm gonna start my own scene and subculture just like the DotCom boom I'm Josh Harris and the world is my oyster, hot models and art kids in Warholesque party spaces

maybe you can open your own homemade apple strudel place in queens? make it real cute with joanna newsom playing in the background and the menu of the day written on a chalk board.

Edison lightbulbs casually strung over each table.

Chicago sounds like a buncha crustpunks giving each other stick'n'pokes, I'm not sure how much "power" resides there, or whether they'd accept me barring a major personal transformation (ie letting go of my personal hygiene)
The power void is exactly the point. People here are clamoring for brooklyn style culture. Ive become a famous artist in a matter of 5 months because I do a hip 'coastal' style in a sea of tradition. We'll wring this place dry
