Exactly. The right is grotesque. The left is grotesque. Politics can never be 'sexy'.

Who loves ya, baby?
I think the challenge is what version said the other day, the left isn't sexy and attempts to make it sexy piss people off who otherwise would get on board
I don't think I've ever used the term 'sexy' in this context.

same logic as categorizing people as NPCs - unaware of the world as artificial construct, unable to deviate from yr preprogrammed task/path

vs PC who has agency, is able to see through the construct to the "real" world beyond it and externally manipulate the construct through metagaming, etc

"Metagaming" does remind me of a point Jordan Peterson made in his psychology course at U Toronto, that its possible to essentially climb up some some kind of inverted tree of games, gaining an ever clearer and ever more robust operability, an ever high vantage to see over the boundaries that those in the lower rungs are confined by. He even used the word game to describe it - he might've even used meta-game.

And Justin Murphy is a sort of exemplar in my mind as well. But, buying into the paranoid/neurotic based/cucked matrix, I wonder if any development toward the based is necessarily absolute. That is, what if you can go undercover into another ideology? I think that might be a hint at some way to disrupt/interrogate/critique norms without becoming something similar to alt-right.

Murphy's interview with Moldbug involved Murphy's genuine liberalism being foregrounded, in a curious way, seeing as it is usually buried underneath a courtship with some kind of dissident-right sensibility. Dissident Right seems to describe Moldbug/Yarvin, who did make explicit efforts in that interview to distance himself from supremacists and "MAGAtards". I'd have to listen to it again to pick up on how Murphy's ideological layering unraveled/revealed itself.

But the layering I think is key. You can preserve a genuinely egalitarian impetus within an ideologically inconsistent framework, a framework that may not appear to be egalitarian. One layer disagreeing with the next layer? One sector disagreeing with the neighboring sector?

I think the task, similar to the point @catalog made about sexiness, would be to establish some pathway(s) for the left that allow for the expression of heterodox and even nomadic ontologies/behaviors, that allow for a kind of unboundedness that seems to be prohibited by the liberal/neoliberal incipient hegemony - without such pathways yielding to resentment of anyone, of any side.

i've noticed this is one of your favourite words stan. it was also a big word in UK politics for a while, maybe still
Yeah I like that word a lot. It seems to say in a word what I would otherwise take pains to describe as high-resolution, nuanced, potent, pluripotent, rich in terms of possible contingencies, possible interpretations, possible elaborations.

Haven't heard of him before, but already I'm interested. Wiki says hes the inventor of the isolation/sensory-deprivation tank.
