The Natural State

The cultural phenomena involving strategies of reconnecting mind, body and spirit to their 'natural', 'default' or 'primal' states and environments.

The epiphanic power of convincing someone that the source of their ills, anxieties, nihilism, stems from the unnaturalness of modern life, the socio-culturally coerced divorce from biologically intended functions.

There's more to it. It's tied up in longing for simplicity. The scorched earth fantasy, burning down the cobwebs of modern existence.

A deep hunger for absolute immersion, the feeling of firm ground beneath your feet, the heart pumping in maximum dilation, the fullness of breath, the body in perfect balance, all muscles moving uninhibited and fluently in perfect holistic coreography.

Have you noticed this and where?

I've also noticed this idea being leveraged in politics. Hierarchies and rugged individualism is natural, the default behavioral patterns mankind since the dark ages. Going against it is wrong and bad. You have to form systems that accomodate and incentivize it.

Is there any truth to this do you think?

there is a huge palpable shift which occurs each time i leave London and spend a few days in the country. an opening out and a slowing down as i move from the city tempo and rhythm to that other tempo of cows blinking and flowers unfolding and wings beating and sheep bleating. and this is physiological it is not psychological, or not primarily so

I think it's a projection of decadence. The atmosphere of stalemate, dead ends, political gridlock. A sense of no way but back.
