The process of the cosmos knowing itself. Science is the means of securing, digesting, and sedimenting the loose bits orbiting chaotically around the core.

well again i think they will be well downstream of us. let them sort it out in our wake. we are here to announce the next stage of evolution. and to gather adoring acolytes.

I agree in that its downstream, at least in the kinds of imagery evoked here. I'm only saying that whatever we send downstream needs to take to science, rather than oppose it.

what catalog is now saying is you need to recognise and accept your core nature of spaced out cosmic hippy and stop trying to master all these complicated technical languages and intellectual manuveres. that stuff is way too hard for the likes of us. leave it to the specialists.

I think of it more as an endless rite, learning this stuff. Constantly aching and informing the mind, as an end-in-itself. Any specialist-level understanding of these things can remain out of reach - but one of the things I'm looking for is a universal golden ticket, something that can optimize cognitive work, hasten its progress drastically. But something like that can only be attained/endowed through meditation, rather than the kind of confused intellectual stuff I'm usually fixated on.

Perhaps you could learn how to do bitcoin or something then you and spendy could help spread lukas maxims round the tech world

That's one of the more potent lessons I've learned here, how much I've been relying on bigger words instead of trying to extract from them a more intuitive way of conveying things.

That said, every once in a while, a crutch may be necessary to get to the next step. Even if its just hastening a process that would otherwise get there.

But here is another point, regarding how these larger cosmic processes accelerate. There seems to be a pattern, from what I can tell, in which higher-order mechanisms hasten their own production. To wander into hostile scientific territory: enzymes hasten chemical reactions that would otherwise take 100x, 1000x, 1,000,000x as long if they were left to "chance".

Similarly, human consciousness, namely its knack for technology, hastens the organization of matter, which would otherwise take billions of years to achieve a formation with a complexity equivalent to, say, a laptop. Even much cruder than that.

my main hurdle with @constant escape isn't the length of words, but the sheer number of them. comments measuring more than 10 lines of content are cancelled, perhaps no one told him.

at least he breaks them up into paragraphs. Rich just gives you an unbroken chunk the length of your arm!
