the justice department brings charges, not congress. but the hearings could make trump even more radioactive to all the independents and none-MAGA republicans who didn't vote for him last time.
is that even helpful? to mangle your metaphor further, isnt that like pouring extra deuterium on an already melting isotope or something?

in any case yesterday's episode was gripping, can't wait for the next one, but slightly concerned about the season finale

(Glad it made some sense anyway

This is what I mean. The truth or otherwise is now all but irrelevant, it's just a battle of conflicting narratives. And I dunno how thus can be reversed and actuality start to matter again.
i don't think it's quite as simple as just conflicting narratives as there is still physically powerful forces like the cops and the courts and the mighty dollar - they are all in a tangle though due to special meme magic which is leaking messily into actualisation...

Obviously it can't be allowed to slide, but I can see it coming back to bite the Dems if it turns into a media circus whilst people are struggling to buy food and nobody seems to be helping.

Yeah I really wanted to avoid saying narratives but it slipped out anyway somehow.

it's helpful if it makes trump think he wouldn't be able to win again and makes him decide not to run (or if he does run, it could as mentioned previously further alienate independents and moderate/normal republicans who didn't vote for him last time). there's nothing trump hates more than losing, and if he runs again he risks being a two-time loser.

surprising how well the first one went, democrats have a habit of shooting themselves in the foot. usually congressional hearings are taken up by grandstanding representatives who just want to hear themselves speak and ram home their partisan point. instead, this had just two people speaking, and the vast majority of the time focused on video of trump insiders admitting there was no fraud or stolen election.

Kinda like the reverse of the famous "dematerialisation"TM effect as the narrative takes over

The weird thing is that I'm pretty sure he didn't enjoy being president at all. Well, no doubt, he liked the adulation and so on, walking into a room as Mr President and everyone having to kiss his ring - but I'm pretty fucking sure he didn't like any of the stuff he was supposed to be doing to run the country - attending meetings and reading stuff, signing paperwork and so on. And it's really bad cos the first time round he didn't know that so he stood for president not knowing that he would be terrible at it (in fact I'm sure he thought that he would be great) - he thought he would like it, but now he knows that he hates all that shit and can't be bothered it... but if he can he is still gonna run simply to erase the stain of his humiliating defeat last time round. I wouldn't be surprised if he won the election and then immediately resigned saying "I didn't want to be your stupid president anyway - but I'm just showing you that I'm the best!"

Thank God that Trump was able to lead his MAGA to force their way into the Capitol Building in the nick of time and fight off a cohort of treacherous police and national guards who had planned to bring down our democracy by striking at its very heart. So typical of those slimy scumbags Pelosi and co who - seconds after their very lives had been saved by Trump's brave footsoldiers - were claiming that MAGA were the bad guys! Is there nothing too low for them?

I missed this at the time but it's always great to see independent candidates challenging the orthodoxy. Do any American posters here know anything about the platform Deez Nuts was standing on?
