I think people in the UK need to watch the US elections very closely and consider that the Tories will attempt to pull the same shit as the Republicans in the coming years. They're both suffering due to shifting demographics, but there isn't yet the polarisation necessary to convince half the electorate that Labour rigs elections. This is why I think the Fox News equivalent's now coming down the pipeline. They need it to lay the groundwork for the kind of thing we're seeing across the pond.

Do people respond to down to earth material politics anymore? I've seen it repeatedly argued that one of the problems with the left is they have no grand vision to inspire the masses. The same was said of Remain in the EU referendum.
