for some reason people take all them studies about "differences in generations" as stone cold fact now when they used to just write them off as bullshit

I'm being rude. Look, I feel you! Studies in The Guardian about ADD and mobile use in young people are lame! Treating arbitrary lines like 1995 vs 1997 as if they were real is silly! But you can talk about generational change without any of that

Things change over time. Cohort effects are real. People react to their parents, and are shaped by their changing environment. What came before affects what comes after. That's all you gotta believe in to believe in generational change.
