My Granny was on the radio

For real. So my question is how to archive her voice for posterity?

What format would be the best way to keep the recording for the future - i grabbed an mp3 of the interview from the local radio station website

she is a mighty 101 years old, she was born after the 1918 pandemic, and remembers being isolated for scarlett fever, she lives in sussex and they talked to her about that on the local radio down there

maybe call the station and see if you cant get a .wav or .flac file, then save it on some cloud service and keep a separate copy on flash drive.

also burn to CD?

better yet, upload it to YouTube (and then post it here!)

yeah i guess so, i feel like electronic is somehow less permanent for an archive, less durable,
but you can get around that by making masses of copies,
i don't think i'd like to put it on youtube though. it's quite likely she has put it on fb alreadyin any case

honestly, you could post it on YT, not identify her or the post at all, and no one would ever see it.

Seems like one recording that would be a superb inheritance gift to pass on as a physical artefact. Upload to Ubuweb or a free clip hosting site too. I love personal/social histories as interviews with senior citizens.

Weird synchronicity, was going through warbling tapes of my grandfather singing trying to find song titles.

back in the 1970s, my older sister spent two years teaching school in Australia. our family would record cassettes on ourselves talking about various nonsense and mail them to her. she brought them back when she returned to the states, and I found one about 10 years ago. so weird to hear yourself as a child, and the voice of my long-deceased dad, like some weird/creepy film about ghosts from the past.

sufi, you should press it as a dub plate, limited edition of 1, then list it on discogs for $20,000 and see if you get any bites from crazy record collectors.

or perhaps something like this... but less pretentious

no worries about formats or extra equipments - a little standalone item, a player
(better still it could be solar or windup powered)

or might that be a little too weird, too uncannily anthropomorphic
