Are You Shy?

Completely situational. And not always in ways I can predict. Sometimes I'm a regular huckster.

But in a room full of shy people I'm master of the meek. If I can smell it on you I tend to take on the duty of all the heavy social lifting

I find this interesting. Every so often it gets me. I'll find I'm not coping in a situation. Something has choked me and robbed me of my powers.

i was very very shy as a child in most situations. As I was saying on the other thread it was getting a job in Starbucks that taught me how to deal with it. And the trick of course is total insincerity.

I feel shy, but I'm also often the one to break the ice. I was in the doctor's waiting room a few months back and everyone was all solemn, pretending to be on their phones, looking at the floor etc, so I asked this old woman something about lockdown then everyone piped up. Was like they all wanted to speak, but didn't want to be the first.

I think I'm introverted so while I may not be cripplingly shy, sometimes social situations arent invigorating enough to overcome initial reticence and it compounds.

everyone gets these moments I reckon where they look down and realise they have no idea what theyre talking about or where it's going. that ultimate panicked realisation, sudden onset of self-consciousness where you notice that entire room has stopped to watch your train wreck in action
