I don't really see how the insanity that Trump (or Cambridge Analytica) has fostered in America and elsewhere can be expunged or put back in the bottle now. What can bring someone who's swallowed the Q Anon story back from that path? It seems like their beliefs are unfalsifiable.

I suppose if there was a government in power for a significant period that actually invested in education that would help.

But even if a sane government gets elected, all that insanity isn't going to just disappear overnight, is it?

When I read stuff from Trump's supporters online it really worries me. The chasm between their adulation and the object of adulation is so bizarre.

And I'm as worried (if not more) that there's these moves on our side of the pond to create a Fox news style news channel and put a Thatcherite in charge of the BBC, etc.

I mean, if he doesn't die, but does lose the election, won't the conspiracy people still be apoplectic? Only his complete victory and a evangelical/fascist takeover (complete with summary execution of Hillary Clinton and Tom Hanks) will appease them.

I can see the argument that dying buys you improves your reputation though. The J Dilla effect.

I wouldn’t/couldn’t mourn the cunt’s passing. Conway too.

Then again, coming up roses say the around the 20-25th like a resurrected Christ figure....who the fuck knows.

they wanted to get him to to hospital while he still had the strength to walk on his own. being carried out to the helicopter on a stretcher isn't a good look.

I dunno. Imagine the costs of another four years of him in the White House.
yeah I was thinking about adding a disclaimer that that cost-benefit analysis is dependent on him losing the election

not that I'd ever count on anything prematurely after 2016, but with both the 538 etc projections and betting markets trending so heavily that way

obviously it would be worth incurring almost any cost if the alternative is another 4 years of him in power

I do like how favoring not death>death has made unlikely allies of people who think he's the greatest person to ever live etc and people who loathe him but prefer survival for narrow, calculated tactical reasons

or look at the voting here - me John + HMG opposing a center-left European coalition

I'm curious to see what the other Americans think - @Leo or the stan/gus/Linebaugh (I forget his nickname) youth trinity - in re death or not death

I remember reading a few years ago that Trump once sent Christie to get him a McDonald's.

haven't voted yet but I'm usually on the side of not letting horrible people off the hook with death. the ideal scenario: suffer a bit, recover, lose election, get indicted/convicted, and play out the rest of his days in a medium-security facility that does not allow prisoners to have smartphones or internet access.

let him be able to watch Fox News, but unable to appear on it as a phone-in guest. a twitterless trump, his own living hell.

I'm with Luka in that I have a superstitious fear about publicly wishing for the death of anybody. Though Id be happy to see him croak if he does.

I haven't really thought through the political ramifications yet. Is the tactical, pro-recovery side of the idea that Trump will likely lose the election regardless, and that his death could potentially galvanize the right and turn over the Trump libido into more politically savvy hands?
