I'm Increasingly Resistant to New Things

well that library-based internet use was the result of a lifestyle that had absolutely nothing at all to do whatsoever with office-based activity, more like wandering the streets all day every day - i am a library member in every inner london borough except one i think

Please, tell us more!

join the city libraries so you can use barbican and guildhall - barbican is the nicest public library i've been to and has all the sheet music, pianos etc. interesting stock of old crime novels and lotsa literature too. best in london. guildhall has the largest single-city collection (on london) in the world apparently

camden is also handy cos then you can use holborn library if you're in the west end, which is frequented by the notorious "milk-man", a guy who is always, always in there on a computer with a 4-pint bottle of milk, reading the daily mail website. reasonable stock

anyone can join the poetry library at the festival hall where you will find more interesting poetry than anyone could read in a lifetime, sometimes interesting displays etc, also my book is in the collection!!

you might not be able to join idk but i like UCL library as an ex-student there and definitely a nicer place to be than nearby senate house library though they may have more stock, certainly no shortage at UCL

i've also relied heavily on hackney and islington but none of those are especially outstanding

i was street homeless for 6 months or so in 2014

How was it? Does it get easier? I've had to sleep outdoors (not camping, just on benches or whatever) a half-dozen ish times in my life before, often in pretty miserable weather and it was rough. Cold, unable to sleep, worried about getting mugged/robbed. Granted I wasn't prepared for it, didn't have a strategy, didn't know my area. I'd imagine you're pretty smart and capable and were able to adapt pretty well, but

I had to do it once. It was summer but I was in shorts and a t-shirt and it was terrible. Really cold, and I was deranged with alcohol, but... at some point a homeless Romanian put a blanket round me

Closest I've gotten to it was getting kicked out for a weekend as a teenager after having a mad house party and ending up trying to sleep on a cardboard box behind my mate's house after he accidentally locked me out. Was more or less sober and couldn't get to sleep at all. Horrible.

I've slept outside with a sleeping bag under a tree or whatever but that doesn't count.

Once Luke tried to get me and gorgeous Jim to stay overnight with him and his mate in a bird hide at Walthamstow reservoir.

That wasn't happening.
