maybe it takes some good ol' fashioned record industry payola for that to happen. ;)

c'mon rich, if you wanna play with the big boys, you have to follow their rules...

you've quickly become shameless record label exec huckster, trying to guilt us all in to buying it.

I've barely started.... although I have to admit I was surprised and disappointed that there was no order from Leo in NY....

I hope you collect something on the nearly $20... I would get a vinyl but I don't own a record player, I've always just collected cassettes cuz they're cheap n small and easy to record your own on a lil machine and press play... Shoot.

In fairness it's a kinda vindication for Taishi cos the point is for people who don't have a record player.

Yeahhh I think Burger Records and the SoCal music scene (among others) really helped make it a semi-standard in DIY. Once you've invested in a tape deck (which are cheap cuz no one wants them, $3-30 at a garage sale or thrift store or what not) you might as well, they're usually half the price as the vinyl. And these days, physical music is as much about having a souvenir or memento as anything else.

(Tho, ironically, we're without steady Internet here due to some provider fuckups, so we've been leaning fully on cassettes for tunes these past weeks)

I've always liked how they're a great leveler.

Not to take away from vinyl, which is obviously the best physical format for preserving good quality sound on, and is super cool to put out

But as you well know, they're pricey to press. It's cool that some college kid in Iowa can just record a bunch of cassettes for basically free and then sell them on Bandcamp. Have bought a fair amount of those kinda tapes, and there's something really magical about them

prolly cheaper for that kid to burns own CD-Rs at this point, no?

I know cassettes are much cooler than cds. hell, everything is cooler than cds. but I still like 'em, lots of super cheap used finds, as we've discussed elsewhere.

Yup that's a good point, though I suppose it depends whether you're recording digitally. Feel like once you get into DAWs and software, it can take more chops for things to sound passable, whereas a shitty fourtrack everything gets automatically compressed and fuzzy. But that's really just a genre of guitar music, anything you'd already be using a DAW or MIDI for, CD would def be the move. Would be very surprised if they don't see a comeback soon, on that same retromania 20-40 year lag that cassettes went through. That'd put them at starting to become cool—what, right around now? Time to invest, heh

woops

is not like other people
i'm going to release invisible sounds 001 on CD for people who don't own CD players then
